Newsletter

USBBY publishes a semi-annual newsletter for its members that reports on conferences and co-sponsored sessions, as well as general news related to international literature for children and young adults. The editor considers email announcements, manuscripts, and press releases related to national and international children's literature. Deadline for submissions are Aug. 15 for the fall issue and Feb. 15 for the spring issue.

Bridges to Understanding book series

We are particularly proud of our publications, including a book series of annotated bibliographies of outstanding international literature for young people, the Bridges to Understanding series. Previous volumes, published by Scarecrow Press, are:

Bookbird

Bookbird is the premier refereed journal in the area of international children's literature. It is published quarterly by IBBY-in January, April, July and October. The subscription rate is $50 per year. USBBY encourages all members to subscribe to Bookbird in addition to their USBBY membership.

Jella Lepman Autobiography

This autobiography relates the efforts of Jella Lepman who, after fleeing Hitler's Nazi Germany, returned to build a Bridge of Children's Books for the survivors of World War II. She worked with international authors, illustrators, publishers, diplomats and world leaders to provide books-and hope-for German children. Lepman is the founder of IBBY and the International Youth Library in Munich Germany. Download the Jella Lepman flyer for more information.
