Come to Boston early for the Boston Globe/Horn Book Awards at Cambridge Public Library, 449 Broadway, Cambridge MA 02138 at 5:00 p.m. with signing from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday November 6 ! Register here.
The IBBY Regional Conference will be held in Boston November 7-9, 2025, starting on Friday, November 7 at 5:30 p.m. at More than Words at 242 E Berkeley St., Boston, MA 02118. On Saturday, November 8 we will spend the day at Simmons University, Center for the Study of Children's Literature from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Sunday, November 9 at the Boston Public Library, 700 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116, from 10 to 2 p.m..
Beginning that Friday evening, we will enjoy rare access to authors and illustrators for probing conversations around informational text, visual narrative and intellectual freedom for young people.
Our conference theme foregrounds action, and we want to recognize the commitment on the part of publishers for their investment in creative and expressive text. In an environment sometimes hostile to diversity, we look forward to foregrounding the right of young people to receive accurate information and experience inspiring narrative.
Saturday, at Simmons University, we will hear the inaugural William H. Teale lecture from translator Helen Wang and the Dorothy Briley lecture from Hans Christian Andersen Laureate Roger Mello.
Staying over after the conference? Consider our post-conference opportunity to visit the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst with USBBY on Monday, November 10, to return to Boston by 4pm. Let Christina Moorehead at the USBBY Secretariat ([email protected]) know if you want to join that excursion so she can add you to the list.
It is our hope that coming together in conversation around children's literature and our global society will provide a balm in this anxious moment.
We look forward to learning and thinking about ways that the rich world of children's literature benefits us all.
If you haven't already, we invite you to make reservations as a part of the conference block at the Residence Inn Boston Back Bay/Fenway. We will remain in touch with registrants as the weekend develops, so look forward to more updates as the conference committee promotes preconference and postconference activities.
